Hyderabad: Five held for Rs 3 crore online ticket booking, wallet fraud
Cyberabad Police arrested five persons for duping a reputed travel company of ₹3 crore by exploiting a software glitch in its ticketing system. The suspects rebooked and cancelled tickets repeatedly to double refunds. Police also seized mobile phones and SIM cards.

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police arrested five persons who were allegedly involved in a Rs. 3 crore online ticket booking and wallet fraud.
According to the police, the five members of the gang – C Sivanarayana, K Narayana Swamy, Anugula Rajkumar, Jadda Brahmaih, and Pericherla Varma between May and July this year duped a reputed travel company to the tune of Rs. 3 crores.
The suspects who are agents of the travel company recharged their online wallet, booked tickets and cancelled them immediately. “Due to a software error, the system credited both the refund and the original wallet amount, effectively doubling the balance. The suspect repeated the process several times and gained Rs. 3, 00,91,683 illegally,” said the DCP Cyber-crime, B Sai Sree.
Meanwhile, in the last one week, the cybercrime police detected 10 cyber crime cases and arrested 20 offenders from across the country. Of the total 20 people arrested, 14 arrests were linked to trading frauds while the remaining were connected to different cyber frauds.
The police seized 24 mobile phones and 19 SIM cards.
